Shrek The Third on GBA is exactly what you'd expect—a side-scrolling beat 'em up with that classic early 2000s movie tie-in energy. You mostly just brawl through waves of fairy tale baddies as Shrek, Fiona, or Donkey, smacking guards and witches with basic combos. The sprites are chunky but kinda charming, and there’s this weirdly satisfying crunch when you land a hit.
It’s not deep—you’ll probably button-mash your way through most of it—but there’s something nostalgic about the janky animations and overly dramatic "Ogre Power" moves. I will say, Donkey’s kicks feel way more useless than Shrek’s punches, so stick with the big guy if you want to actually get anywhere.
Honestly, it’s a solid time-waster if you’re in the mood for something mindless and vaguely Shrek-shaped. Just don’t go in expecting Kingdom Hearts.
