Okay, so Shrek: Swamp Kart Speedway is exactly what it sounds like—Mario Kart, but with ogres and fairy tale nonsense. You pick Shrek, Donkey, or one of the other weirdos from the movies, then race through tracks full of swamp water, castle ruins, and the occasional angry mob. The karts handle like shopping carts on mud (which, honestly, fits the vibe).
First race, I went with Puss in Boots because obviously, but his tiny kart kept spinning out on turns. Switched to Fiona—turns out she’s weirdly good at drifting? The tracks get chaotic fast, with magic pumpkins exploding and Donkey yelling nonsense the whole time. It’s janky in that early 2000s GBA way, but the music’s weirdly catchy, and the art style nails the grimy charm of the movies.
Not gonna lie, it’s no Mario Kart, but if you ever wanted to watch Lord Farquaad eat your dust, here’s your chance.
