I picked up Shrek SuperSlam for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, a time when licensed games were everywhere. Activision published it, and it was one of those portable titles you'd see on store shelves next to the bigger console releases. It fit right into that era of trying to capture a movie's energy in a handheld format.

You control characters from the Shrek universe, like Shrek or Donkey, in small arena battles. The main goal is to knock your opponents off the screen or deplete their health. You have a basic attack button and a special slam move that charges up; landing a fully charged slam is the quickest way to win a round. The arenas are interactive, with objects you can pick up and throw, and some have hazards that shake up the fight. Matches are fast and a bit chaotic, especially with multiple fighters on screen. It feels straightforward and silly, a simple brawler to pass the time.
