I picked up Shrek: Reekin' Havoc for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a time when licensed games were a constant presence on the handheld. You control Shrek through a series of side scrolling levels, mostly focused on getting from the start to the exit. Your main goal is to rescue Fiona from the scheming Fairy Godmother, which involves fighting guards, smashing crates, and navigating platforming sections. Signature mechanics include using your sword for close combat and a powerful belch to stun enemies; you also collect Ogre Medals hidden throughout the stages to unlock bonus content. The pacing is straightforward, though some jumps require precise timing, and enemy placement can create sudden difficulty spikes. It feels like a competent, if unremarkable, action platformer that gets the job done.
