I picked up Shrek 2 for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, published by Activision. It was a time when licensed games based on movies were everywhere, and this one fit right into that trend on the handheld. You get to play through the story of the film, which was a pretty common setup for games like this.

You control Shrek, and sometimes Fiona or other characters, through a series of side scrolling levels. The main goal is to fight your way through various locations from the movie, like forests and castles, to rescue Fiona from Prince Charming. You use a simple sword attack for most enemies and can occasionally pick up and throw objects. The levels are broken into distinct screens you clear of foes before moving on, and you collect coins to buy health potions. The pacing is straightforward, though some enemy patterns can get a bit repetitive after a while. It feels like a simple, button mashing adventure that gets you from one end of the level to the other without too much fuss.
