Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children: Shiro No Sho is one of those weird little GBC RPGs that somehow pulls you in despite the tiny screen. You start off as a kid who can talk to demons—pretty standard for SMT—but the twist here is you’re basically recruiting and fusing them Pokémon-style while navigating some surprisingly tough dungeons.
The demon fusion system is addictive once you get the hang of it, though early on I kept accidentally making useless combos. (Pro tip: don’t just mash demons together hoping for the best.) The battles are classic turn-based, but with that signature SMT difficulty—expect to get wrecked if you’re not paying attention.
It’s got that old-school charm with chunky pixel art and a soundtrack that somehow makes the Game Boy’s beeps sound epic. If you’re into dungeon crawlers with a monster-collecting twist, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
