If you grew up with the Shaman King anime, this GBA game is basically nostalgia in cartridge form. You play as Yoh, running around, battling other shamans, and—of course—summoning spirits to wreck shop. The fights are turn-based but with a twist: you’ve gotta time your button presses right to pull off stronger attacks, which keeps things from feeling too repetitive.
At first, I wasn’t sure about the spirit system—some feel way more useful than others—but once you figure out which ones mesh with your playstyle, it clicks. The sprite work holds up surprisingly well, and the music? Pure early 2000s charm. It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but if you’re into the series or just miss that classic GBA vibe, it’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
