Shadow of the Beast is one of those games that looks amazing—until you actually try to play it. The Sega Master System version keeps the same brutal difficulty as the Amiga original, where enemies come out of nowhere and jumps need pixel-perfect timing. The atmosphere is dark and moody, with these weird, eerie backgrounds that feel way ahead of their time. But man, you’ll die. A lot. Like, "throw your controller" levels of frustration.

It’s got that old-school charm where you either memorize every enemy spawn or accept that you’re never finishing it. Still, there’s something weirdly compelling about the whole thing—maybe the soundtrack or just how different it felt back in the day. Just don’t expect a fair fight.
