If you're into old-school military shooters, Sgt. Rock - On The Frontline is a solid little Game Boy Color title that doesn't get enough love. You're basically leading a squad through classic WWII scenarios—storming beaches, clearing bunkers, that sort of thing. The controls take a minute to get used to (switching between characters feels clunky at first), but once it clicks, there's something satisfying about flanking enemy positions with your squad.
Graphics are about what you'd expect from a GBC war game—lots of brown and green pixel art, but the explosions have a nice punch to them. The music? Surprisingly intense for a handheld game from 2000. Just don't go in expecting Call of Duty; this is more about methodically picking off enemies while managing your team's limited ammo. It's one of those games where losing a squad member actually stings.
Works great on emulators if you don't have the original cartridge lying around.
