I picked up Scrabble Blast! for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, a time when the handheld was full of puzzle games trying to do something different. It was published by Destination Software, and it took the familiar concept of Scrabble and gave it a fast-paced, action-oriented twist. You control a cursor to select adjacent letter tiles on a grid, spelling words as quickly as you can before a timer runs out. The main objective is to clear each screen of all tiles by using them in words, with longer words and special tile combinations earning more points. Signature mechanics include the cascading effect, where new tiles fall into place after a match, and the pressure of a constantly descending row of tiles that will end the game if it reaches the bottom. The pacing is relentless, forcing you to think and spell under a genuine time crunch. It feels like a linguistic race against a clock that is always ticking just a little too fast.
