I picked up Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed on the Game Boy Advance back in 2004. It was published by THQ and developed by the now-defunct studio, Artificial Mind and Movement. This was a time when licensed movie games were everywhere on the GBA, and this one fit right into that familiar, portable action-adventure mold.

You control either Shaggy or Scooby-Doo, switching between them to solve puzzles and fight monsters. The main goal is to stop the masked villain from unleashing a gallery of classic monsters across Coolsville. You explore the city screen by screen, which involves a lot of running through themed locations like the museum and the factory. Signature mechanics include using items from a gadget belt to interact with the environment and a simple combat system where you can throw projectiles or perform a weak melee attack. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is generally forgiving, though some of the later platforming sections can be tricky. Playing it feels like a straightforward, lighthearted romp through a cartoon mystery.
