Santa Claus Saves The Earth is one of those weird little GBA games that makes you go, "Wait, what?" at first glance. You play as Santa—yes, that Santa—flying around in his sleigh blasting aliens who, for some reason, decided Earth wasn’t worth sparing. The controls are simple, but dodging enemy fire while dropping presents (which double as bombs, because why not?) takes some getting used to.
It’s got that classic arcade shooter feel, with bright, chunky sprites and a soundtrack that’s way more intense than you’d expect for a game about Saint Nick. I won’t lie, it’s janky in places, but there’s something oddly charming about watching Santa mow down UFOs with a barrage of explosive holiday cheer. If you’re into retro oddities, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
You can play it on an emulator these days, but good luck finding an actual cartridge—this thing’s rarer than a polite online argument.
