Oh man, Sangokushi - Game Boy Ban 2 is one of those classic GBC strategy games that somehow makes the Three Kingdoms era work on a tiny screen. You start off picking your warlord (Cao Cao's always a solid choice) and immediately get thrown into managing cities, recruiting officers, and sending troops into battle.

The pixel art has that charming late-90s Game Boy look, with little sprites for your armies and surprisingly deep mechanics under the hood. First time I played, I totally botched my supply lines and got wiped out by Lu Bu—lesson learned. It's all in Japanese, but if you've played any Koei strategy games before, you'll pick it up fast.
