Salt Lake 2002 is one of those early 2000s GBA sports games that somehow makes pixelated snowboarding and skiing feel legit. You pick from a handful of winter events—downhill, slalom, halfpipe—and the controls are simple but surprisingly responsive for a handheld game. The graphics are what you’d expect from a GBA title, but the sense of speed when you’re bombing down the slopes actually holds up.
It’s not super deep, but nailing a clean run or pulling off a last-second trick before the finish line still feels satisfying. The AI isn’t brutal, so you can ease into it without getting wrecked immediately. If you’ve got nostalgia for the 2002 Olympics or just want a quick winter sports fix on the go, this one’s a decent time. Just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
