About Ssx Tricky (u)(mode7)
SSX Tricky on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2002, published by EA Sports Big. It was part of a wave of attempts to bring big console sports games to the handheld, and it arrived when the GBA library was really starting to diversify. You got a scaled down version of the over the top snowboarding the series was known for, right in your pocket.
You control a snowboarder racing down mountain courses filled with jumps and rails. The main goal is to win races or score the most points in trick competitions by performing grabs, spins, and the game's signature Uber Tricks. These special moves, built up by filling a meter, are the highlight; you pull off wild, physics defying flips that fill the screen. Navigating the courses requires memorizing the best lines for maintaining speed and hitting the big jumps. The pace is fast, and the later courses get quite challenging with narrow paths and tricky landings. It feels like a constant push to go faster and pull off something more ridiculous than the last run.
