SSX 3 for the Game Boy Advance was a portable version of the console snowboarding game, released in the early 2000s. It was developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports BIG, bringing the series' arcade style to the handheld. On the GBA, it joined a library filled with sports and action titles, offering a different kind of racing experience compared to the pixel-perfect platformers common on the system.
You control a snowboarder racing down mountain slopes, performing tricks to build a boost meter. The main objective is to win races and trick competitions across different events. Signature mechanics include pulling off Uber Tricks by holding shoulder buttons and directional inputs, and using your boost to maintain speed or recover from rough landings. The game moves quickly, with a difficulty that spikes on sharper turns and bigger jumps. Navigating the condensed courses while chaining tricks together creates a satisfying flow from start to finish.
