I remember picking up the Rugrats Movie game for my Game Boy Color back in 1999. It was published by THQ, a company that put out a lot of licensed games for kids during that era. This was a time when you'd see a new cartoon movie, and a handheld game version was almost guaranteed to follow. It fit right in with the other bright, side scrolling adventures on the system.

In the game, you control Tommy Pickles, and your main goal is to find your lost reptar doll. You move through a series of side scrolling levels, navigating through the house and backyard. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across furniture and avoiding hazards like toy robots or spilled cereal. You also collect various baby items, such as bottles and cookies, which are scattered everywhere. The pacing is fairly slow, which makes it approachable for younger players, but some of the platforming can be surprisingly tricky. It feels like a straightforward mission through a familiar, oversized world from a toddler's perspective.
