Man, Rocket Power on the Game Boy Color takes me back. You boot it up, and bam—there’s that chunky pixel art of Otto and the crew, ready to throw down on skateboards, surfboards, or snowboards. The controls are simple but just loose enough to make wiping out feel like part of the fun (and you will wipe out).
I spent way too much time replaying the half-pipe levels, trying to nail combos while the soundtrack blares those crunchy GBC beats. The surfing sections are janky in that old-school way where the waves kinda teleport you, but it’s weirdly charming. And yeah, the dialogue’s full of early-2000s "whoa, extreme!" cheese, but that’s half the appeal.
It’s not the deepest sports game, but if you’ve got nostalgia for the show or just love weird little handheld relics, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect Tony Hawk—more like a sugary snack of arcadey stunts and cartoon vibes.
