Rocket Power: Dream Scheme is one of those weirdly charming GBA games based on a Nickelodeon show—but honestly, it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. You play as Otto, racing through Ocean Shores on your skateboard after Dr. Stimpleton (yeah, that’s his name) kidnaps your friends to turn the whole town into some bizarre polka-themed resort. The levels are these fast-paced side-scrolling runs where you’re grinding rails, dodging obstacles, and pulling off tricks to build speed. It’s got that early 2000s extreme sports vibe, complete with exaggerated voice clips and bright, blocky visuals.
What surprised me was how tight the controls feel—once you get the hang of timing your jumps and boosts, you can chain some ridiculous combos. The boss fights against Stimpleton’s goons are goofy but satisfying, especially when you finally nail that perfect trick to knock them out. It’s short, sure, but the kind of game you’d replay just to beat your high score. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into that era of licensed games that actually tried.
