I remember playing Rock'em Sock'em Robots on my Game Boy Advance back in 2006. It was published by JAKKS Pacific, a company more known for their plug and play TV games, so seeing a portable version was a bit of a novelty. This was during the GBA's later years, when the DS was already out, so it felt like a straightforward, no frills kind of title you'd pick up without much expectation.

You control one of two boxer robots, Red Rocker or Blue Bomber, in a series of one on one fights. The main goal is to knock your opponent's block off, literally, by landing enough punches to pop their head up. The mechanics are simple: you use the face buttons to throw high and low punches, and you can block incoming attacks. A power meter builds up as you land hits, letting you unleash a special move that can turn the tide. The pacing is quick, with rounds that don't last long, but the AI can be surprisingly stubborn, leading to some tense back and forth exchanges. It feels like a direct, slightly clunky translation of the toy's simple fun into a basic fighting game.
