Robots came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was part of that wave of licensed games on the handheld, a time when you could find movie adaptations sitting right next to original adventures on the store shelf. You control a young robot named Rodney Copperbottom, running and jumping through a world built from spare parts and big ideas. Your main goal is to stop the villainous Ratchet from taking over the city, which involves traveling across different districts. The gameplay mixes exploration with combat; you move screen by screen, using a wrench to whack enemy bots and a vacuum device to solve environmental puzzles. You also collect bolts to upgrade your abilities, which becomes essential for reaching new areas. The pacing is steady, and the challenge feels fair, never throwing too many surprises at you at once. It feels like tinkering in a well organized workshop, where every new part you find makes your robot a little more capable.
