About Robin Hood
Robin Hood for the Game Boy Color came out in 1999, published by Take-Two Interactive. It was part of that wave of top-down action adventures that felt right at home on the handheld, a familiar style for anyone who spent time with the system. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it offers a solid, straightforward adventure in Sherwood Forest.
You control Robin Hood himself, moving screen by screen through the woods and into castles. Your main goal is to rescue Maid Marian from the Sheriff of Nottingham, which involves a lot of sword fighting, shooting your bow at guards, and searching for keys to unlock doors. You explore different areas, including outdoor sections and indoor dungeons, collecting gold and health along the way. The pacing is deliberate, and the combat can be tricky, requiring you to get the timing right for your swings and arrows. Playing it feels like a methodical trek through a compact, challenging world.
