Roadsters 1998 is one of those Game Boy Color racers that feels like it was made for long car rides—simple, fast, and just the right amount of jank. You pick from a handful of boxy little cars (I always went with the red one, no idea if it was actually better) and tear through tracks that somehow feel both cramped and way too wide at the same time.

The drifting is weirdly satisfying once you get the hang of it—tap the button just right and your car whips around corners like it’s on rails. Don’t expect Gran Turismo, but there’s something charming about how aggressively ’90s the whole thing is, from the screechy engine sounds to the fact that every track looks like it was colored with highlighters.

It’s the kind of game where you’ll finish a race, realize you’ve been gripping the Game Boy way too hard, and immediately hit "retry" because you swear you could shave half a second off your time. Perfect for when you want racing without overthinking it.
