Revelations: The Demon Slayer is one of those hidden gems on the Game Boy Color that feels like it should’ve been way more popular. You start off in this moody little village where everyone’s whispering about demons—classic RPG setup, but the pixel art gives it this eerie charm. The first dungeon’s got these flickering torches and weirdly detailed cobwebs for a GBC game, which immediately sets the tone.

Combat’s simple at first—just whack some slimes—but then you find your first real weapon, and suddenly you’re juggling magic spells and dodging attacks in these tight corridors. The music’s all ominous chiptune stuff that somehow makes fighting giant bats feel epic. And yeah, the story’s got prophecies and all that, but there’s something oddly satisfying about how seriously it takes itself.

It’s got that old-school difficulty spike too—you’ll hit a boss around the third dungeon that’ll make you rethink your entire strategy. But when you finally take it down? Pure 8-bit triumph. If you’ve got a soft spot for late-era GBC RPGs, this one’s worth dusting off the cartridge for.
