Return of the Ninja is one of those classic Game Boy Color action games that feels way bigger than it should. You play as a ninja—obviously—slicing through enemies with quick sword slashes and throwing stars while jumping between platforms. The controls are tight, which is good because some of those jumps require precision, and the enemies don’t mess around.

What surprised me was how much variety there is for a GBC title. You’ve got different weapons to pick up, and the levels actually change things up—forests, caves, even a burning village at one point. The music’s got that old-school chiptune energy, too. It’s not the longest game, but it’s satisfying in that arcade-y way where you just want to beat your high score.

If you’re into retro action games, this one’s a solid choice. Just don’t expect a deep story—it’s all about the ninja vibes and quick reflexes.
