Resident Evil Gaiden is this weird little GBC spin-off that feels like a fever dream—Barry and Leon team up to fight bioweapons on a haunted cruise ship, which sounds awesome, but the gameplay’s a strange mix of top-down exploration and first-person shooting. You’d think it’d be a mess, but somehow it works.
The combat’s janky in that classic handheld way—timing your shots with a sliding cursor while zombies shamble toward you. And yeah, the story’s not canon, but who cares when you’ve got Barry dropping one-liners and Leon being, well, Leon? It’s short, rough around the edges, and definitely not the best RE game, but there’s charm in its weirdness.
Fun fact: The ending’s wild even by Resident Evil standards. You’ll see.
