About Rescue Mission
Rescue Mission came out for the Sega Master System, a game from that era where developers were figuring out how to build entire worlds on a cartridge. I don't recall the developer's name offhand, but it was one of those titles that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside other early action platformers.
You control a lone soldier, moving screen by screen through a fortress. Your goal is straightforward: find and rescue the hostages held inside. The main mechanics involve careful jumping across gaps and shooting enemies with your limited ammunition. You explore each room methodically, because the enemies respawn if you leave and come back, which forces you to be decisive. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty comes from managing your resources while navigating the maze-like layout. It feels tense and focused, like a slow burn where every shot and every step counts.
