Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva is a fantasy role-playing game released for MS-DOS in 1997. It was developed by attic Entertainment Software GmbH and published by Sir-tech Software, Inc. This title is the third and final chapter in the Realms of Arkania trilogy, and it was distinctive for its time as a CD-ROM exclusive release featuring SVGA graphics and a smoothly scrolling three-dimensional game world.

Players create and control a party of adventurers with various character classes, navigating the environment from a first-person perspective. The primary objective is to investigate a series of disturbances in and around the coastal town of Riva, where orcs have overrun the countryside and a mysterious chieftain occupies a dwarven mine. Gameplay is structured around exploring the town and its outskirts, interacting with inhabitants, and uncovering plot details that advance the narrative. Progression involves managing the party's inventory, engaging in dialogue, and triggering turn-based combat sequences which are displayed on separate isometric screens. Unlike the earlier games in the series, the adventure is confined to the town of Riva and its immediate surroundings, with the settlement itself serving as a central hub connecting different areas.

The game integrates several key systems, including character creation, party management, and tactical combat. Exploration and puzzle-solving are central activities as players gather clues about the orc threat and rumors of traitors within the city. Full screen hand drawn cutscenes are used to develop the story. Technical refinements from previous installments include a more streamlined inventory system and the integration of environmental graphics into the battle screens, while the broader overworld travel mechanics of the series are not a focus in this more localized setting.
