Alright, so Sonic RPG Episode 7 is one of those old-school Flash games that doesn’t mess around—it’s tough, but in a way that makes you want to keep trying. You jump into turn-based battles with Sonic and friends, picking moves and hoping you don’t get wrecked by the enemy’s next attack. The fights are brutal at first, but once you figure out the rhythm, pulling off a win feels awesome.

Between levels, there’s this little animated movie that plays, which is a nice break from getting your butt kicked. And thank god for the password system—if you finally beat a level after 20 tries, you can just skip straight to it next time instead of suffering all over again. Classic Flash-era design right there.

It’s not fancy by today’s standards, but if you’re into retro RPGs with some bite, this one’s worth the frustration.
