About Rampage 2 - Universal Tour
Rampage 2: Universal Tour came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, published by Midway Games. It was part of that wave of late 90s handheld titles where developers tried to fit big arcade concepts onto a small screen. You got a portable version of the monster mayhem the series was known for, right there in your pocket.
You control one of three giant monsters, like George the giant ape or Lizzie the reptile, and your goal is simple: smash every city you visit. The game plays out screen by screen, moving from one city block to the next. You punch buildings until they crumble, eat the people who run out, and fend off constant military attacks. The main objective is to destroy enough to progress to the next location, collecting power-ups along the way to restore health or gain temporary abilities. The pacing is relentless, with helicopters, tanks, and snipers coming at you from all sides, making it a challenging scramble to stay alive. It feels like a chaotic, destructive playground where you are the main attraction.
