Rampage Puzzle Attack came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, a time when the handheld was filling up with puzzle games trying to stand out. It was published by Midway, a name you might know from arcades, though this was a different kind of game from their usual fare. It took the Rampage name, famous for monsters smashing cities, and put it into a completely different format.

You control one of three monsters on a single screen, and your goal is to clear the level by destroying all the buildings. This is done by matching colored blocks; you swap adjacent blocks to create groups of three or more, which then vanish and cause damage to the structures. The main mechanics involve chaining combos for bigger attacks and managing a rising water level that can end the game if it reaches the top. The pace is methodical at first, but the water forces you to think and act quickly under pressure. It feels like a tense race against a clock where a good combo can turn everything around.
