R-type (world) Game

R-Type on the Sega Master System is one of those shooters that looks simple until you actually play it. You’ve got this little ship, a weird floating orb thing that sticks to you (or shoots off when you need it to), and an endless wave of alien nightmares coming at you. The first level tricks you into thinking you’ve got this—then suddenly, everything’s bullets and tentacles.
Power-ups are everywhere, but half the fun is figuring out when to grab them. That orb? It’s basically your second gun, but it also blocks shots if you position it right. Boss fights are brutal in the best way—huge, screen-filling monsters that take forever to bring down. Just don’t get too attached to your lives; this game doesn’t mess around.
It’s still one of the best ports of the arcade original, even if the Master System’s colors are a little washed out. You’ll probably die a lot, but that’s part of the charm.
