Qix Adventure is one of those weird little Game Boy Color gems that never got enough love. It’s the only portable version of Qix, and honestly, it’s way more interesting than the arcade original. Instead of just drawing lines to claim territory, you’re exploring this weird, blocky world—fighting off enemies while trying to box in sections of the map. The Adventure mode throws in power-ups, bosses, and even some light puzzles. Feels like someone took a puzzle game and mashed it up with an action-adventure, in the best way possible.
First few minutes? You’ll be fumbling with the controls (why is the D-pad so stiff?), but once it clicks, you start seeing the strategy—like when to go slow for precision or just rush to trap enemies. The music’s got that classic GBC chiptune vibe, too. Definitely a hidden pick if you’re into oddball retro stuff.
