About Q-bert
I picked up Q*bert for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a Konami release that came along when the handheld was full of arcade ports. It was a familiar name in a pocket format, a game you'd play in short bursts between other things.
You control Q*bert, that round character with a hose for a nose, hopping diagonally across a pyramid of colored cubes. Your goal is to change every cube to a target color by landing on it, all while avoiding enemies like Coily the snake and those pesky purple balls. The main mechanics are your precise hopping and using discs on the side of the playfield to launch yourself to safety. The game gets faster and more crowded as you progress, demanding quick decisions. It feels like a constant, frantic dance to stay one jump ahead of trouble.
