About Puyo Pop Fever (e)(endless Piracy)
Puyo Pop Fever came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Sonic Team and published by THQ. It was a solid puzzle title in a handheld library already full of them, a familiar sight next to other falling block games of the time.
You control the falling pairs of colored blobs, called Puyos, rotating and placing them to create chains of four or more of the same color. The main objective is to clear your own screen while sending nuisance Puyos over to your opponent's side. Its signature mechanics are the Fever mode, which gives you a pre-set chain to trigger for massive attacks, and the offset system, where you can cancel incoming garbage by making your own chains. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly against the computer, demanding you think several moves ahead. It feels frantic and satisfying when you set off a big combo that overwhelms the other side.
