Puchi Carat is one of those Game Boy Color puzzlers that feels like someone smashed Breakout into a match-three game—but in a good way. You’ve got this little paddle at the bottom, bouncing gems back up to clear clusters, and it’s way more frantic than it sounds. The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s chill, then suddenly you’re sweating over a wall of emeralds about to crush your last life.
What I love is how it doesn’t just copy-paste the usual puzzle formula. There’s this weird tension between aiming carefully and panicking when the blocks creep lower. And the music? Pure late-90s charm—synthy and upbeat, like it’s cheering you on while the screen fills up with sapphires. If you’ve got a soft spot for handheld puzzlers that actually make you think (and maybe yell at your GBC a little), this one’s a solid time capsule.
