Psychic World came out for the Sega Master System, developed by Sanritsu and published by Sega. It was part of that late 80s wave of action platformers on the system, a time when developers were experimenting with new abilities beyond simple running and jumping. You control a young psychic named Aya, who is trying to rescue her friends from an evil entity known as the Dark Lord.

You guide Aya through a series of themed worlds, moving screen by screen. Her main weapon is a psychic shot, but the key mechanic is her ability to copy psychic powers from defeated mid bosses. You might get a barrier that blocks projectiles, a fireball that arcs downward, or a homing shot that seeks out enemies. The objective is straightforward: fight through each stage, defeat the boss, and move on. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise platforming required and enemies that respawn when you leave and re-enter a screen. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to manage your limited power and outmaneuver aggressive foes.
