Pro Mahjong Tsuwamono GBA is one of those rare mahjong games that actually feels right on a handheld—no clunky menus, just straight into tile-slapping action. The AI doesn’t mess around, either. First match in, I got absolutely wrecked by some old dude in the corner of the screen who kept smugly adjusting his glasses.

It’s got that classic GBA charm—bright colors, chunky sound effects when you discard tiles, and just enough Japanese text to make you feel like you’re playing something imported. The controls are simple (d-pad to move, A to confirm), but the strategy? Not so much. Took me three games to realize I was hoarding the wrong tiles like a dragon with trust issues.

If you’ve ever wanted a no-nonsense mahjong game for your GBA that doesn’t hold your hand, this is it. Just don’t blame me when you lose five rounds in a row to a computer opponent named "Grandma."
