Pro Mahjong Tsuwamono GB2 is one of those deep-cut Game Boy Color mahjong games that feels like it was made for late-night train rides in 1999. The pixel art tiles have that satisfying chunky look, and the AI opponents actually put up a decent fight—none of that "let the player win" nonsense. First thing you'll notice? The menus are all in Japanese, but if you know your mahjong basics, you can muscle through it.

Weirdly charming how they gave the CPU players these little samurai-themed avatars that grumble when they lose a hand. I kept getting wrecked by the guy with the eyepatch until I figured out his bluffing tells. Definitely not for beginners, but if you’ve got a soft spot for retro mahjong sims, this one’s got teeth.
