About Powerpuff Girls, The - Bad Mojo Jojo
I remember picking up The Powerpuff Girls: Bad Mojo Jojo for my Game Boy Color back in 2000. It was developed by Saffire, a studio that handled a lot of licensed games for the handheld. This was right in the middle of the platform's life, when colorful cartoon adaptations were common sights in game stores.
You control Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Blossom can freeze enemies with her ice breath, Bubbles creates a sonic scream to shatter glass blocks, and Buttercup spins like a tornado to break certain barriers. The main goal is to stop Mojo Jojo by navigating through Townsville, screen by screen, in a linear path. You punch and kick your way through his monkey minions, and each level ends with a boss fight. The pacing is straightforward, but some jumps require precision, and figuring out which girl's power to use on environmental puzzles can slow you down. Playing it feels like a direct, hands-on trip into an episode of the cartoon.
