Power Spike is one of those weirdly addictive Game Boy Color sports games that shouldn’t work but totally does. You’ve got pro beach volleyball with Gabrielle Reece (yes, that Gabrielle Reece), and the controls are surprisingly tight for a handheld title—no janky button delays when you go for a spike or block.
The sand physics feel oddly satisfying, and matches get intense fast, especially when the AI starts pulling off sneaky drop shots. Graphics are bright and chunky in that classic GBC way, and the announcer voice clips are hilariously over-the-top. It’s the kind of game you pick up for five minutes and suddenly realize you’ve been playing for an hour.
