Power Quest on the Game Boy Color is one of those weird little fighting games that somehow sticks with you. At first glance, it looks like a stripped-down Street Fighter clone, but there’s this weird charm to it—the sprites are chunky but expressive, and the moves actually feel satisfying to pull off.
You pick from a roster of fighters (I always went for the ninja guy—his teleport was busted if you timed it right), and the combat’s got this weird mix of simplicity and depth. You’re not juggling 50-button combos, but spacing and timing matter way more than you’d expect. The AI cheats sometimes, sure, but when you finally nail that perfect counter, it’s stupidly satisfying.
It’s not the flashiest GBC game, but there’s something about the way it plays that makes it weirdly addictive. If you dig old-school fighters with personality, this one’s worth a few rounds.
