About Pop'n Pop (japan)
I picked up Pop'n Pop for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a puzzle game from Taito. It was one of those many colorful titles that filled the handheld's library, a straightforward concept without a lot of the complexity you saw in other games from that time.
You control a small character at the bottom of the screen, aiming and launching bubbles upward to clear them from the playfield. The main goal is to pop all the bubbles on each screen before they descend and crush you. Your shots bounce off walls and ceilings, letting you hit tricky angles, and matching three or more bubbles of the same color makes them disappear. The game moves at a steady pace, but the stages get tighter and more demanding as you progress. It feels satisfying to clear a difficult screen with a single, well-placed shot.
