I picked up Pop'n Pop for the Game Boy Color around 2000, a release from Taito. It was a time when the handheld was full of puzzle games trying to stand out, and this one was a crossover that brought together characters from a few different Taito titles. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just offered another way to pass the time with its colorful, simple look.

You control a little character at the bottom of the screen who fires bubbles upward. Your main goal is to clear each screen of all the bubbles stuck to the ceiling by matching three or more of the same color. The core mechanics involve aiming your shots carefully to create those matches; if you pop a group, any bubbles hanging below them will fall, which can cause satisfying chain reactions. You also have to manage the ceiling, because it slowly descends over time, adding a constant pressure. The game starts gently but the pace quickens, demanding faster aiming and planning to avoid getting crushed. It feels like a focused, sometimes frantic, test of your precision under a ticking clock.
