I first played Pop N Pop on my Game Boy Color back in 1999. It was a Taito release, one of many puzzle games that filled the handheld's library during that era. The colorful screen and simple concept made it a good fit for quick sessions, a common trait for portable games at the time.

You control a small character at the bottom of the screen, shooting bubbles upward to clear matching groups. The main goal is to pop all the bubbles on each single-screen stage before they descend and trap you. Key mechanics include bouncing your shots off walls to hit tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping one group to drop another onto more of the same color. The pace is steady, but the stages get quite challenging as new layouts and faster descents are introduced. It feels satisfying to set off a big chain and watch the screen clear in a single, well-planned move.
