I picked up a Game Boy Advance cartridge labeled Pong, Asteroids, Yar's Revenge. It's one of those unnumbered releases, a compilation that just appeared without a major publisher attached. These kinds of collections were common on the GBA, often bundling older arcade concepts into a portable format for quick sessions.
You control simple shapes: a paddle in Pong, a triangular ship in Asteroids, and the Yar in Yar's Revenge. The objective is straightforward survival and high scores. In Pong, you deflect a ball; in Asteroids, you blast apart floating rocks while avoiding collisions; in Yar's Revenge, you fire at a moving barrier and a central enemy. The mechanics are pure arcade: quick reflexes, constant motion, and learning enemy patterns. The difficulty ramps up quickly, especially in Asteroids where the screen fills with fragments.
