About Pokemon Versione Perla (i)
Pokemon Versione Perla came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It was part of that early wave of DS titles that really used both screens, with the bottom one handling menus and the top showing the world. It felt like a natural step up from the Game Boy Advance games, a bit more polished and with some new things to do.
You control a young trainer starting out in the Sinnoh region. Your main goal is to travel across the land, catching wild Pokemon, battling other trainers, and defeating the eight Gym Leaders to eventually challenge the Pokemon League. Two big mechanics defined the experience. The Poketch, a watch-like app on the touch screen, gave you quick access to various tools like a step counter or a friendship checker, which was handy. The other was the Underground, a separate area you could dig into for fossils and spheres, and even set up a secret base. The pacing is steady, with new areas and stronger Pokemon appearing as you earn more badges. Navigating through Mt. Coronet or cycling down the long routes gave the journey a real sense of scale. It feels like a long, personal adventure where your team is entirely your own.
