Pokémon Diamond on the DS is one of those games that just sticks with you. You start off in Twinleaf Town, pick your starter—Chimchar was my go-to, but good luck resisting Turtwig’s charm—and then it’s off into Sinnoh. The region feels huge, especially when you’re biking up and down those winding routes or getting lost in Mt. Coronet.
The battles are classic Pokémon—turn-based, but with enough strategy to keep you thinking. And the underground? Spent way too many hours digging for fossils and setting up secret bases there. The music’s great too, especially the rival battle theme. It’s got that old-school DS charm, even if the movement’s a little grid-based by today’s standards.
If you’ve ever wanted to take down Team Galactic with a team of your favorites, this is the game for it.
