Pokémon HeartGold is basically the Gold/Silver remakes we all wanted—but better. You start in Johto like the old days, but now your Pokémon actually follow you around (Pikachu trotting behind you never gets old). The graphics got a nice bump, battles feel snappier, and there’s even this weird Pokéwalker gadget thing that lets you level up your team by… walking in real life? Weird, but kinda cool.
It’s still classic Pokémon—gym battles, random Zubats in caves, that one guy who only uses Rattatas—but with enough polish to make it feel fresh. And yeah, after beating Johto, you can hop over to Kanto like in the original. Just don’t expect to sleep much once you start grinding for Red’s insane level 88 Pikachu.
