About Pokemon - Platin Edition (de)
Pokemon Platinum Edition came out for the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It was part of that era where the dual screens and touch input started to feel normal, and this game used the bottom screen for menus and your Poketch, a little wristwatch gadget with various apps. It's an enhanced version of Diamond and Pearl, set in the Sinnoh region, which feels a bit colder and more mountainous than some of the earlier areas.
You control a young trainer who sets out to catch Pokemon, battle other trainers, and challenge the eight gym leaders. Your main goal is to fill your Pokedex and become the regional champion by defeating the Elite Four. Two big mechanics define the experience. One is the Distortion World, a strange area you explore later where gravity works differently and you navigate twisted, screen by screen paths to reach Giratina. The other is the expanded Pokedex and the Battle Frontier, a post game facility with different battle formats that tests your team building skills. The pacing is deliberate, with routes that require HM moves like Surf and Rock Climb to fully explore, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably in the late game, especially in the Battle Frontier. It feels like a complete and more challenging version of the Sinnoh adventure.
